The Interview Q&A

Where are you primarily based out of?

Miami, Florida


What role do you typically play on set?

Director, screenwriter, actress, producer, acting coach, casting coach, 1st AD and more.


How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?

I’ve been an actress since childhood, started doing my own plays in 2011 that moved me to doing films in 2011.


What are some of the biggest challenges you've encountered and how have you overcome them?

I went to college majoring in film but never graduated with a degree. But I’ve been able to work with other companies, start my own production company, work with celebrities, get my short film accepted into film festivals, speak on panels and teach masterclasses all because I didn’t allow me not finishing college stop my dream.


Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?

Shonda Rhimes, Ava Duvernay, Mara Brock-Akil, Lena Waithe, Issa Rae, Gina Prince-Bythewood and so many more filmmakers. But my mom and three daughters are my true inspiration because they give me strength to continue on my journey in filmmaking.


What does it mean to you to be an inspiration/mentor to someone else?

There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t seek someone I can encourage. It’s my life’s mission and besides I wish that I had someone to give me hope to follow my dreams growing up. I had to find them myself.


Where do you draw your inspiration from?

From within. I know however I’m feeling that day it’s someone feeling the total opposite. A little encouragement can have a big impact on someone. My assignment is to entertain the world through art so that the can visually be connected with their emotions.


If you had one message to share with the world, what would it be?

Live is what you make it so make it worth it.


What’s are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?

Learning how to use a DLSR camera on my own, learned how to edit all on my own. I have a few short films people can go look at, I’ve worked on other projects that shows I’m a great collaborator, featured in a couple of online magazines, podcasts and more.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)

In my own production sound stage studio. Working with top indie and Hollywood executives to create great films.


If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?

Know who you are and remember her every time you feel lost.


What does being a part of The Women in Film Project mean to you?

Part of history, part of visibility in filmmaking.
