“NEVER GIVE UP :)”

Nicole Stuart

The Interview Q&A

Where are you primarily based out of?

Im in Los Angeles

What role do you typically play on set?

I act write and produce but if anything is needed and I’m available I’ll help out. Like in 40ish I took on many hats from finding locations to picking up food! Whatever it takes to get the job!

How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?

Over 20+ years. My first real big job was being Demi Moore standing on A Few Good Men which led to other stand in job which eventually led to other small roles and so on…

Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?

I’ve been lucky to have been surrounded by people who inspire and motivate me from my childhood to my adult life in Los Angeles and in my “day job,” as a pilates trainer. I’ve been lucky to work and train some of the best actress’s in Hollywood. I’ve been able to run lines with them and watch them work on set…. And that’s the coolest! I also have my childhood friend I grew up with who created UFC and that also has really inspired me to keep going and lastly my mom she always instilled in me to never give up no matter what which taught me so much!!

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I love theatre classic plays like Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, and contemporary plays we saw a play called Yerma it’s an adaptation. And holy shit… when it was done I couldn’t get out of my seat. I had to sit there and catch my breath and wipe away and the tears from my eyes it move me to the core. And perhaps having children was something that was very close to me at the time because I had just had my baby and it was very difficult for me to get pregnant. But to me nothing’s cooler than to be able to take somebody else’s words and create an environment that can relate to people and take them out of their own world for a few hours it’s magical. A little bit about the play… it’s like a Greek tragedy. Yerma is identified by Lorca as “a tragic poem in three acts and six scenes”. It was written in 1934, right on the brick of Spanish Civil War in 1936 and the author’s demise. The play takes place in a rural Andalusia, where Yerma, a married woman, suffers from the inability to conceive a child. Every woman in her seems to be pregnant, but yet she is still waiting after two years of marriage. Her husband Juan doesn’t seem to be at all concerned about it. His concerns more lie within Yerma’s increasingly erratic behaviour and worry about the spreading rumours that Yerma is unfaithful. Desperate, Yerma goes to a place of pilgrimage but refuses to lie with another man. Finding out that Juan never really wanted children and never will, Yerma kills her husband, killing with him her only hope to have a child.

What’s are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?

I have to say my short 40ish was the biggest accomplishment. From writing it to putting it together and acting in it.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)

I’m going to make my two films. The Egg and I and Vegas Girl I also have a project I’m writing now based on what happens to the lead character after the short ends. It’s a comedy too. And it’s wild and fun! I’d also like to do a play in New York on Broadway that will be the ultimate dream!

If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?

Just go for it nothing makes any sense in this industry and to keep that in mind and create your own projects don’t wait for anybody to choose you.
