The Interview Q&A

How long have you been working in the film industry? Where did you get your start?

“2 years working professionally producing, directing, and writing. I got my start making shorts in high school then went on to go to film school at FSU.”

Who is your biggest inspiration? What have they taught you?

“Barry Jenkins. He taught me the power of the indie come-up and staying true to myself and my voice.”

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

“I draw my inspiration from real life and real people. The complexities and depths of people who have gotten hurt and continue the cycle of hurt.”

What are some of the biggest things you’ve accomplished in your career so far?

“Selling two feature film scripts, creating a TV series, and partnering with Rolling Loud and Live Nation to develop narrative film and television. Most of all though is building a film family. None of those accomplishments would be without them.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? (No dream is too big!)

“I see myself being wealthy and healthy from my artistic endeavors, continuing the growth of the Florida film industry with my film family.”

If you had one piece of advice for a woman who wants to get started in the film industry what it would be?

“Balance vulnerability with strength. Men respect strength, prove to them that their definition of strength is lacking emotional depth and insight. Never let them make you feel too emotional or too sexual. You can show it all and still command respect. Also, stop saying sorry.”
